It’s been 20 years since development of Lakewood Ranch began. With 9,500 homes and much of the infrastructure already completed, developers say that Lakewood Ranch is halfway through its planned development. Two decades and approximately 5,100 homes remain on the drawing board. Lakewood Ranch is a CDD community, and voters have yet to decide if they would like to become their own municipality.
Bradenton proper is seeing its own growth, with much of the real estate market seeing shifts northward to take advantage of lower prices than Sarasota. The Herald Tribune recently reported that Preston family land is slated to be the home of upwards to 16,000 new homes across two development projects, an undertaking even larger than Lakewood Ranch.
Most Sarasota and Manatee communities are set up as HOAs with regulations, so although fences are generally allowed, there may be restrictions. If you are moving to Lakewood Ranch or Bradenton and hope to fence in your property, whether for privacy, security or to contain your pets, be sure to ask for the HOA regulations regarding fencing as part of your due diligence. Some neighborhoods restrict the type of fence, requiring white PVC or aluminum as opposed to wood. Check out the restriction, then call Florida Fence. We have innovative programs to schedule your fence in advance of closing, to be ready for your installation when you move in.
